Honeywells

When you’re planning a proper Sunday roast or a bit of a celebration, the supermarket aisles don’t always cut it. That’s when we head over to Honeywells. It’s one of those local spots that just feels right, you know exactly where the meat is coming from, and you’re supporting Lancashire farmers while you’re at it.

The "Occasion" Spot

We tend to use Honeywells for those "treat meals." If you’re after a decent cut of beef or something for a special occasion, the quality here is hard to beat. You can tell the staff actually know their stuff - they’re always friendly, up for a chat, and happy to give you a bit of advice on the best cuts or cheeses if you’re not 100% sure.

Not Just a Butcher

It’s easy to pop in for a steak and end up leaving with a full week's worth of food. They’ve got a massive selection:

  • The Deli & Veg: Locally sourced veg, proper crusty breads, and enough cheese to keep anyone happy.
  • The Freezer Hack: This is the one for the parents. They do some decent frozen bits, specifically the croissants and pain au chocolats. We keep a stash in the freezer and they’re a lifesaver for an easy weekend breakfast that the kids actually get excited about.

The Logistics

  • Parking: Usually pretty straightforward at their farm shop spots (like Eaves or Barton).
  • The Vibe: Proper local farm shop. It’s clean, well-stocked, and doesn't feel like a chore to walk around.
  • The Cost: You pay a bit more than the supermarket, but the difference in taste is worth it for a treat.

The Verdict

If you value knowing where your food comes from and want to support the people living and working around Preston, Honeywells is a legend. Grab the nice meat for yourselves, and grab the frozen pastries to keep the kids quiet on Sunday morning. Everyone wins.
